Department of Science colleagues out and about on a research trip to Abada village with student researchers Ms. Erika Rebhan and Ms. Ellinor Wahnström from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology, in Stockholm, Sweden. Abada village is one of the sites that will be studied under the MSc Project titled Emergency supply of energy during natural disasters in Fiji, which is being co-supervised by Dr. Ramendra Prasad from the Department of Science.
Natural disasters can result in significant damage and disruption to communities. Research on the vulnerabilities of a community and ways of increasing resilience is essential for educating, equipping, empowering and engaging community members. SoST has been steadily engaged in community research over the years to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes.
