It is with great pleasure that I along with the entire Academic Staff and present and past Medical students, welcome you to Fiji’s dynamic and growing Umanand Prasad School of Medicine and Health Sciences (UPSM&HS).
Located on the western side of our main island, Viti Levu, we have become known as the “Center of the Fiji Western Medical Universe.” While providing modern health care and related services to a rapidly expanding local population coupled with a tremendous increase in passenger traffic at nearby Nadi International Airport and in line with an expansive modern Lautoka City Sugar Industry, our UPSM&HS students have a spectacularly broad spectrum of clinical material for in depth teaching and learning experiences. Notably, Nadi Airport is the primary portal of entry for more than 98% of air traffic passengers and visitor contacts for all of Fiji and thus presents a unique mix of potential medical activity and educational growth experiences for our students. Also, unlimited tourist opportunities to explore the vast western Archipelago of Nadi Bay and the spectacular Yasawa Islands makes for frequent unique clinical interactions with our students which enhances their growth and clinical acumen.
